Klappentext: "Malawi, The Warm Heart
of Africa. Malawi certainly lived up to this slogan over the years, with very friendly and welcoming people.
Despite its God given beauty, Malawi has never taken full advantage of its tourism potential. Malawi's
landscape varies from high plateau grass plains and woodland with an excellent climate, to low savanna with
higher temperatures at its lowest points. Malawi is in short, very beautiful. It has the potential to offer
a visitor a complete safari experience, because it isn't a big country. With the necessary infrastructure,
travel would be easy, comfortable and stress free. Not much effort has gone into developing tourism because
the country has many other pressing responsibilities like health care, food security etc. I feel an emphasis
should be put on reviving income generating activities and one vital way would be to entice foreigners to
come and experience the hospitality Malawians can offer and also to show them this small, yet beautiful
country. Because of its diverse landscape, it can accomodate a wide variety of fauna and flora therefore
offering something for all enthusiasts. I really hope that this book will enlighten those who aren't aware
of what Malawi has to offer the visitor, and will want to make every effort to visit this beautiful land.
And to the Malawians I say your land is trully beautiful, be proud of it and look after it. God Bless!"
Synopsis: "This book tells the
history of the country of Malawi, from its beginnings in the Rift Valley of Africa, through to the visits of
David Livingstone and the early Christian missionaries to the present day. The photographs by Frank Johnston
illustrate the descriptive text by Vera Garland, bringing to life the history of this small but fascinating
African country."

Verleger: "This coffee table book
presents spectacular, full colour photographic coverage of Malawi's landscapes, sites of natural beauty,
mountains, forests, churches, national parks and reservations, wildlife, species and game reserves, lake and
lake life, settlements, community life, agriculture, rivers and skylines. The photographs are accompanied by
a written commentary providing general background and history of Malawi for the interested reader or
visitor. The authors are an experienced writer, and photographer/publisher renowned for bringing into print,
and publicising Malawi's varied landscapes, environmental aspects, wildlife and cultural heritage."
Klappentext: "To the delight of the many subscribers to her electronic newsletters, Sandy Ferrar's
writing on Malawi is in book form for the first time. Her collaboration with Frank Johnston, well-known
publisher and photographer of Malawi for the past thirty years, means a double feast for readers. The weekly
electronic stories and newsletters sharing their experiences as Sandy and husband Tony Ferrar explored this
beautiful country, gave Sandy's friends and fans unique glimpses of life - particularly wildlife - in
Malawi. As a broadcaster - under her maiden name, Sandy Dacombe - artist and sculptor with training for the
stage, she brings all these disciplines to her writing. Textured word pictures of light and colour make her
work deeply evocative. Her lightness of touch and barely suppressed humour add delight. Frank Johnston's
photographs have been seen in Malawi and Europe for three decades and his first book Malawi, Lake of Stars became a best selling classic on the great
lake. Here, in a wider ranging coverage of his adopted country, he joins Sandy to introduce visual pleasure
and bring the many moods of Malawi to life. Malawi - the Warm Heart of Africa celebrates this
cooperation in a sensual and memorable interplay of text and photography."

Malawi: The Warm Heart of Africa
von Hanns Reich (Fotos) & Juliet Clough (Text), Vorwort von Dr. H. Kamuzu Banda
Klappentext: "One of the greenest,
most beautiful and most populous spots in Central Africa, Malawi's landlocked boundaries include some of the
continent's most spectacular mountain ranges as well as its third largest lake. The people of Malawi are
still mainly farmers, their business centres largely free from shantytown blight, their countryside,
uneroded by mass tourism, a paradise for the traveller and nature lover. Malawi closely guards an
individuality which owes much to the fertility of the land, the genuine friendliness of its people and to a
past both traditional and colonial. Today's modern capital and a multitude of development schemes are part
of a mature and settled landscape. This book is an introduction to a country and a people whose warmth and
charm have left their mark on a century of travellers."
